Welcome to the 2026 Outdoor Learning Conference
Thursday May 7, 2026 9:00am - 11:30am MDT
In this interactive, land-based learning session, participants will explore the ecological, cultural, and educational value of wetlands and cattails. They will learn to make their own natural cordage bracelet from cattail fibers—a powerful, hands-on activity that connects students to place, ancestral knowledge, and sustainability. They will discover how mindful harvesting fosters conservation and how a simple, no-cost renewable resource can ignite curiosity, pride, and a sense of achievement in learners of all ages. Participants will leave with new skills, a handmade bracelet, and practical ways to engage their students in conversations about climate change, wetlands, and our shared responsibility to care for the land.
