About me
Marjan Akbari is an Art Program Coordinator with Prospect Human Services, where she has spent over nine years designing and facilitating art and outdoor-based programs that foster creativity, mindfulness, and community connection for individuals with developmental disabilities. Her programs—such as Art in the Garden, Labyrinth Walking, and Spirals and Stories—blend journaling, sketching, sensory awareness, and nature-based creative practices. She has partnered with the Inglewood Community Garden and Highfield Regenerative Farm and led the creation of Prospect’s community garden through The Calgary Foundation’s Neighbourhood Grant. In 2025, she co-presented at the Take Me Outside Outdoor Learning Conference in Banff, teaching mindfulness through labyrinth walking.
