Welcome to the 2026 Outdoor Learning Conference
Friday May 8, 2026 3:30pm - 4:45pm MDT
Imaginative ecological educators are weavers; they weave wonder into the everyday experience of learners. With their students, they engage imagination and emotion to weave relationships between knowledge, the body, and the natural world. This interactive session will describe and apply the tools imaginative ecological educators use to weave rich pedagogical relationships for their students. Specifically, participants will learn how Feeling, Activeness, and Place, the guiding principles of Imaginative Ecological Education, or IEE, translate into practice with accessible teaching tools that can increase engagement and learning across the curriculum. Participants will leave with a deeper sense of the role of imagination in learning, practical resources for teaching, and an understanding of how thinking about teaching as weaving can enrich their nature-based practices. (Learn where A Walking Curriculum finds its roots!)
