About me
I've been teaching outdoors for more than 25 years. I started as a park interpreter in BC Parks as well as Metro Vancouver Parks and Parks Canada, completed my B. Ed., and then returned to working in informal learning environments like parks and nature centres. I currently run a year-long outdoor ed program for local K-7 students and also offer professional development for teachers beginning their outdoor learning journey. I recently completed an M Ed in Special Education with a specific interest in understanding the experiences of bright neurodivergent students who struggle with behaviour. These students often thrive outdoors. Talk to me about stewardship of natural areas, planning for outdoor learning, inclusion of neurodivergent kids and behaviour kids outdoors, collaboration between teachers and community partners to facilitate outdoor learning, native plants, sea creatures, or wolverines.
