About me
Hi! My name is Simone. I was born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador on Canada's east coast. After university, I taught for 2 years in my hometown but I was looking for a challenge and a change. I moved to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador in 2012 and began working at Sheshatshiu Innu School. I am a Grade 5 classroom teacher of all core subjects and I am the Department Head for the school's Cultural Activities Department. At my school, there is a great deal of freedom for teachers and students to connect with the land and to engage in outdoor learning. I help plan and organize activities for Pre-K to Grade 12 students including snowshoeing, ice fishing, berry picking, canoeing, camping, hiking, rabbit snaring, traditional cooking, and beading - to name a few. Hands down, this is my favourite part of my job!
