Welcome to the 2026 Outdoor Learning Conference
Friday May 8, 2026 3:30pm - 4:45pm MDT
"Outdoor learning offers opportunities for connection, discovery, and growth…but not everyone can access nature-based experiences equally. Barriers to participation may not always be considered during the course design process, and accessibility is far too often left as an afterthought. This workshop invites educators, leaders, and facilitators to critically examine accessibility in nature-based education and take an actionable approach towards inclusion.
Participants will begin by exploring challenges for full inclusion outdoors: From apparent barriers such as uneven terrain to factors such as sensory sensitivities, cognitive differences and neurodivergence, cultural and religious considerations, and financial limitations. Through real-life examples and guided discussion, participants will learn how to find and address accessibility and inclusion concerns within their own programs, workshops, courses and classes."
