Welcome to the 2026 Outdoor Learning Conference
Friday May 8, 2026 3:30pm - 4:45pm MDT
Reconnect with your sense of wonder through nature journaling—a mindful practice that nurtures observation, curiosity, and ecological literacy. In this immersive outdoor session, participants will design their own nature journals and discover how journaling can enrich outdoor learning experiences across ages and settings. Grounded in research from environmental education and early childhood development, this hands-on workshop blends art, science, and mindfulness to demonstrate how nature journaling enhances reflection, creativity, and well-being. Participants will explore prompts and techniques that encourage learners to slow down, notice deeply, and develop emotional resilience through connection with nature. By journaling in all weather and seasons, educators will gain tools to integrate mindfulness and ecological thinking into their teaching while fostering gratitude and a sense of place.
