Rochellie Lywin is an Outdoor & Nature-Based Learning Specialist and Certified Forest and Nature School Practitioner, with a Diploma in Early Learning and Child Care and a Level 3 Early Childhood Educator certification. She also holds a Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills from Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute and is currently completing her Child and Youth Care degree at the University of Victoria.
Rochellie is the founder of Three Pines Outdoor and Nature Play in Cochrane, AB. Her work is rooted in a home-based early learning program she has led for nearly six years, where she developed a deeply relational approach to early childhood education. Through consistent rhythms of care, co-regulation, and connection, she has built long-term, trusting relationships with children and families that continue to shape her practice.
From this foundation, Rochellie creates child-led, place-based learning experiences grounded in relationship, trust, belonging, and supporting children to develop confidence, emotional regulation, resilience, and a strong sense of self.
Alongside her work in early years, Rochellie is also a Youth and Family Counsellor in a non-profit mental health setting in Calgary, AB. This work deepens her understanding of attachment, safety, and emotional well-being, and informs her trauma-aware, relationship-centered approach.
Rochellie is an approved vendor with the Calgary Catholic School District and is expanding her work into school settings through outdoor education and nature-based learning programs. She has facilitated seasonal early years programs and has also travelled internationally, supporting youth in meaningful outdoor learning experiences.
Her connection to the outdoors began in her early childhood in the Philippines, where time outside meant freedom, exploration, and shared community life. This lived experience continues to guide her work today, shaping spaces where children build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.
She serves on the Board of Outdoor Play Canada and is committed to strengthening outdoor play and learning across early years, youth communities, and school settings.
Rochellie believes children grow best when they are given time, trust, and the space to truly belong in real places.
