About me
Lauren MacLean is a primary teacher, author, and outdoor learning consultant passionate about helping children and educators connect with nature. With a background in land-based education through Soaring Eagle Nature School, she brings a rich understanding of outdoor play and learning to her work. Lauren is the author of several children’s picture books, including Me and My Sit Spot, Finding Common Ground, Risky Play Gone Away, and What Does it Mean to Care About Nature?, all of which celebrate curiosity, inclusion, and play in natural spaces. Her professional resource, Sitting With Nature: An Educator’s Guide to Sit Spots, supports teachers in weaving nature connection into everyday classroom routines. As host of the Teach Outdoors podcast, Lauren shares practical strategies and inspiring stories to help educators feel confident teaching outside. Through writing, teaching, and consulting, she fosters wonder, belonging, and stewardship in both children and adults.
