Leona Prince is a Dakelh woman from the Lake Babine Nation and Nak’azdli, and a proudmember of the Lhts’umusyoo (Beaver) Clan. A best-selling author and award-winningeducator, Leona has been recognized nationally with distinctions such as the IndspireAward for Educational Leadership and the UNBC Alumni Award for Professional Excellence.Her recent co-authored research, ‘Achieving Equity in Graduation Rates and OtherIndicators of Success for Indigenous Learners in Canada’, earned the prestigious 2024R.W.B. Jackson Award. A passionate speaker and storyteller, Leona’s children’s book ‘Be aGood Ancestor’ was shortlisted for both the Blue Spruce and Ruth and Sylvia SchwartzAwards. Above all, she is a devoted mother of three, whose children inspire hercommitment to building a more just and inclusive education system.
