About me
Rachel Smith-Young lives in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal on the unceded territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation. She holds a BA from Trent University in Indigenous Environmental Studies and Sociology and is currently working as a Schools Engagement Coordinator with Water First where she develops and delivers hands-on water science programming for K-12 learners in Indigenous communities. Building upon existing experience in outdoor education and youth climate leadership, Rachel has been working on a collaborative team over the past year to strengthen the incorporation of career connections in Water First’s Schools programming through local community involvement and experiential learning. Rachel is passionate about promoting learning through action and providing opportunities for young learners to meaningfully contribute to the protection of their local lands and waters.
