Welcome to the 2026 Outdoor Learning Conference
Friday May 8, 2026 3:30pm - 4:45pm MDT
Outdoor and natural spaces hold numerous meanings and purposes for individuals and cultures. One universal strand is that our health and wellbeing are bound to it however far removed. Whether in a city park or remote forest, fostering connections to place, self, and others is enhanced through authentic experiences. This interactive workshop focuses on supporting educators to facilitate experiential learning in outdoor settings for youth and children to increase self-awareness, develop self-regulation strategies, and build social competence. This is while pursuing connections to outdoor places instead of just serving as a scenic backdrop. During the workshop, activities and discussion will revolve around optimal learning zones, intentional and progressive ‘games with aims’, and the use of natural spaces. The workshop is designed to mirror strategies and delivery methods ready to use by educators.
